Outreach

During term time, weekends and school holidays we offer Outreach services.

This is delivered on a one to one basis, using facilities out in the community and within the Kids Can Achieve building. This service is any time of day, year round, 7 days a week and is for an agreed care package.

Outreach services are not limited to activities/short breaks as we also offer escorts for school runs and we work with local schools to support children and young people with special educational needs.
 

After School Club

The After School Club is delivered term time, each week day, between 3.30 pm and 6.00 pm.

Age group 5 to 12 years old.

Children have access to the specialist facilities at Kids Can Achieve which include the large play room, the sensory room, art room and IT room and also the outdoor play area and activity kitchen. Activities include dance, drama, music, cooking, computers, arts and crafts, sports, group games and free play / relaxation time.

We also offer transport services from Kids Can Achieve to home (subject to availability).
 

Saturday Stay & Play

Saturday Stay & Play is a group based activity which runs on Saturdays between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm (term time).

It takes place at our Kids Can Achieve building. The day is structured, starting with variety of activities, we then sit down all together and have lunch. Activities commence again in the afternoon and are tailored to suit the children’s interests. Group age 5 to 12 years old.
 

Holiday Schemes

Holiday Schemes are delivered during the holidays and half-term periods, week days, between 10.00am and 3.00pm. The holiday schemes are broken down into 3 separate schemes depending on your child’s needs, age and interests.
(Main) Play Scheme

Our play scheme is for children aged 5 to 12 years old and runs from Kids Can Achieve Monday to Friday, 5 days a week.
The children have access to the play area, computer room, sensory room and the outdoor play area.
Each holiday the children take part in themed-related activities, which include arts and crafts, music, dance, drama, cooking, story telling, sports and group games with some local trips. We give a lot of emphasis on sensory play which includes messy and creative activities.
High Achievers
High Achievers are for children aged 6– 12 years of age. The service is run from the Good News Church (opposite the Kids Can Achieve building on Chichley Road) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
It provides a safe place to play and explore through a structured environment to progress the children’s social, independence and speech and language skills. Activities include drama, cooking and trips out in the local community.
Independent & Specialist Youth Schemes
This group runs from Kids Can Achieve, Monday to Friday. The activities are based on developing young people’s independence and social skills encouraging them to lead the activities they wish to do.
The groups provide a mixture of both site based activities and trips in the community. Activities include music, arts and games but also accessing local community facilities such as parks,Thames Valley Adventure Playground,bowling,golf and many more.

Age group 13 - 25 years old.
 

How to access these services


The funding for each child or young person attending any of these services can come from a number of sources.

1. There may be an agreed Care Package by the local authority.

2. The local authority funds directly Short Breaks Core Offer if your child receives middle or higher rate DLA. You might be entitled to 100 hours in each year. This can only be used for the Holiday Schemes.

3. A parent / carer can pay privately for any of the services. You can choose to pay privately to top up your Care Package or the Core Offer.

The payment for Care Packages and the Short Breaks Core Offer will either be made directly by Harrow Council or if you are in receipt of Direct Payments for these services, from you as the parent / carer.

For parents / cares who are not currently in receipt of Direct payments or DLA for your child and are not aware of the process to apply to access the core offer for Holiday Schemes, our Family Worker would be very happy to support you or sign post you to where you can obtain further information.
